Love these leisure centres and have visited all at various stages in my life. I now regularly go to Penwortham as it is the only one I can get to without a car. It is always busy -can't believe closing is even being discussed.

These MUST remain open they are a source of enjoyment/pleasure to many but also important for health reasons which in turn can only benefit all and the NHS

If all the libraries are closed and the leisure centres, just where are all the young people supposed to go? It isn't everyone who can jump into a car and drive to this proposed new facility at Farmington Moss. It is very important that the leisure centres are kept open for young and old to enjoy

Our children attend swimming and gymnastics lessons at penwortham leisure centre and we have found out that our daughter has great potential to go far with gymnastics. With penwortham leisure centre this may not of happened.
These centres are the core of so many families. Closing them would be fatal!!

It is very distressing to learn the local leisure centres are under threat. One of the benefits of local centres it is can provide a local community network that is valuable to those who are isolated or limited in their recourses.
I have found the Penwortham leisure centre invaluable as I am going through cancer treatment. Accessing the local centre has been essential for my mental and physical well being. Being able to walk to the centre was essential in my health condition and without that local access my health would have been impacted.
The centres are busy providing both exercise actives and social interaction. At a time when social care is facing incredible difficulty it is incredulous that the council is taking away a service that can improve the health of our most vulnerable. Local resources provides links with community where as large centres just perpetuate isolation and the vulnerable position of community residents. There is significant research to evidence the impact of the removal of local community resource and the benefits for community wellbeing when they have local resources.
Local centres enables people to access them without needing to take public transport or a car. Environmentally the reduction of cars is important as well as management of traffic.
It is a shocking plan- the removal of what is a well utilised community and resource that has benefits far beyond the actives provided.

South Ribble needs all three local leisure centres as one central one would not be convenient to get to by public transport. Especially young people who rely on local ones where they can walk or cycle to.

To close three operational, well patronised, in profit, accessible leisure centres in order to build one new centre which is only accessible by private vehicle is utterly ill conceived nonsense for many, many reasons.

Building a new £m facility in Farington can surely never be cheaper than maintaining existing well used facilities.

I agree with Margaret this is insane. How much will it cost to travel to Farington by bus. Also no bus from Penwortham as the Fishwick buses are no longer in business.

Insanity to close 3 local in profit leisure centres to build a vanity project inaccessible to those without a car. Penwortham in particular has lost enough in the last year with the closure of the library & the imminent loss of the church hall.
