This proposal will prevent local residents participating in sports and leisure activities. It will mean significant travel costs and/or a reliance on poor public transport. The only people not affected by this proposal are those rich enough to pay for alternative facilities.

Community members need community services, local and easily accessible for everyone. Keep things local or they will not be used enough.

I think the leisure centres in preston serve a great amount of locals and it would be a massive shame if they were to close

This proposal will prevent local residence participating in sports and leisure activities given the need to travel and placing reliance upon local transport which is poor. The young and old people of affected by this proposal the most.

At a time when we are facing an obesity epidemic and trying to reduce traffic pollution it takes a special kind of short-sightedness to come up with the idea of closing well-used and valued local leisure centres to replace them with a remote centralised one. I suggest the whoever came up with the idea is encouraged to think of ways of building on what we have, rather than destroying it.

I am a regular participant of yoga classes at the leisure centre.
My son and I both use the swimming pool as well. I really appreciate having a local pool.

What idiot thought it would be a good idea to have only one fitness centre - especially one that many people won't be able to get to if using public transport. Hands off our leisure centres.

This leisure centre should be kept open. It serves the people of Penwortham and the surrounding areas well. It is in constant use and serves all ages from the very young to the oldest residents. It is used by local schools from the area. It was recently re-furbished. When we are constantly being told by national and local government that there is little money available, why does money keep being wasted? Keep this valuable re-source open. Use the little money available for Adult Social Care instead! We keep being told to keep fit and active, which we are trying to do. If this centre closes and a new one is built will it seve the local community of Penwortham and surrounding areas it will it be too far to travel.

This is an essential local community service to encourage exercise and good health. Very few current users would use some distant centralised facility

I thought the whole point was that these leisure centres are within each community and easy to access for the people who live there.

If the Council has no money to run such Centre's how can it justify spending millions to build a new one that may well be unable to be visited by Public Transport. Shouldn't an environmentally friendly Council be encouraging walking for example - my wife regularly walks to Penwortham Leisure Centre from our House, she would have to jump in the Car if it was moved to Farington. Think again please and leave these venues alone.

Those without transport need the opportunity to keep fit without having to spend both money and time travelling further to do so.

Both my kids go swimming here and also their school do a weekly swimming lesson for year 4. The department of education have said schools have to improve and give swimming lessons as children have to learn to swim by a certain age. So without anywhere for schools and parents to take them its impossible and a real safety concern.
