The school administration formally agreed to preserve the garden in its current location and include our committee in all future design meetings. This outcome secures the space for the students while ensuring our oversight moving forward.

Final supporters
Smartville Garden was created to provide an educational, and inspirational setting for the enjoyment of students, parents, faculty, and the community at large, and, especially, to serve as a deep and multi-faceted resource supporting the multiple intelligences curriculum.
Creating the garden was a cooperative effort among students, parents, grandparents, neighbors, PTA, faculty, former faculty, school administrators, and community leaders who have invested thousands of hours and substantial funds in its development and maintenance.
We the undersigned respectfully petition that the bulk of Smartville Garden be preserved intact and in its current location and that representatives of the volunteer garden committee be included in the design process in order to assure that that occurs.

The petition reached 250 signatures this morning. I have drafted a formal letter to the school board requesting a seat for our committee in the upcoming design meetings.

I have three grandchildren attending Enota Elementary School and as a retired teacher understand the benefits my grands have gained through the experiences this garden provides. Not only are they learning, but young ones need to be outdoors and have the opportunity to move around with the added benefit of learning being fun.
My sons and I enjoy the garden for picnics on weekends and during the Summer. They have learned so much from the garden. Please spare the garden. It is important to so many children in our community.
I have been involved with the garden since the beginning. The garden was designed for a teaching tool for the students to learn about plant classification, irrigation by recycling water, life cycle of plants, etc. Enota is the only school that has a garden of this type thanks to the Fockeles and many volunteers.
My children didn't go to Enota, but I had a garden at my elementary school 50 years ago and can still remember the lessons it taught me. This is at least as important as many other things that go on inside the building!
One of the reasons I choiced my daughter to this school and paid the out of county fees was because of these types of programs. Children must learn about food and nature if we are too preserve our way of life.
Save the garden! It's so beautiful!
Please preserve the garden. It's a wonderful example for children and adults alike. It pays for itself by not needing any additional water beyond local rainfall and it's just beautiful. I would be very sad to see it go.

I have watched the Smartville garden grow as an amazing addition to our community as well as to the school. The landscaping is extraordinary but I am also impressed with the water conservation system as a teaching tool worthy of study by the entire community. To destroy this amazing garden would be tragic.
