As a former Essex League umpire I would be deeply saddened by the loss of this great cricket team. this club bring opportunities and benefit to young people in Shenfield and they must be allowed to continue.

This is a valuable local asset for young and older generations and would be a same if these restrictions are imposed why does the council needed to medal with clubs these are a focal point of our community even the new Shenfield sign has the cricket club on it.

We need more sporting facilities for our young people not more car parks for people who can’t be bothered to walk a quarter of a mile to their local High Street - be courageous and show the lazy lobby that it can’t just get what it wants

Having played many times v she field and know people I consider friends it will be a crying shame if a vital part of the community disappears due to the actions of the council

This surely goes against the legacy left for those to enjoy this open space by The Courage family and in particular The Shenfield Cricket Club’s use.

The othe side of this coin is that the SCC have been a real pain to the local residents for years. They sell council owned car park spaces for around £400 a year without making any contribution to tax payers. They built a club house and placed containers on council owned land without council asset permission. They have played cricket matches within yards of a children’s playground, until the council woke up to the inherent danger and stopped it. They were granted use of the current site for 50 years which has now expired and want acesss to a further slice of community space on the Courage field for a second pitch. This field has been designated under covernant for use by the general public for recreation and is used by walkers, picnickers and families during the summer months. Through poor management of funds they have got themselfs into considerable debt and are now asking for further handouts. Many would say with their poor community spirit, they have got of lightly.

Without such clubs and facilities towns like Shenfield will become much worse places to live. It is important to value these assets highly.

The sheffield cricket club and it facilities are an essential resources to the residents of Shenfield! The council should be supporting and encouraging it development; not undermining it!
As Chairman of the Shepherd Neame Essex League, where Shenfield play their cricket, I see these as very concerning developments. Participation numbers in sport, particularly at junior level, are diminishing and the council has a clear duty to help clubs revert this downturn not make it more difficult.

I have played several times at shenfield, an excellent ground & a club which must carry on.
