The Ashes start Tonight and we must protect our grounds as the places to develop our cricketers of the future.

Once again GREED by Councils wanting to close Community sports clubs for their own financial gain.

The local children need somewhere to play and to occupy themselves. Sports such as cricket bring a team spirit and build friendships that last a lifetime. Closing this facility will push youngsters onto the street with nothing to do but get up to mischief and the problem is compounded. The Cricket Club must stay.

Without clubs like Shenfield kids cricket, and then adult cricket, will disappear.

Clubs such as Shenfield provide children and adults facilities to participate in sports which they enjoy, create discipline, promote sportsmanship, encourage fitness etc etc. They also create a sense of belonging and life long friendships, and extended family of sorts! None of this can exist without clubs like Shenfield, and are of far more greater value to the local community than what is being suggested!

Shenfield Cricket Club provides pleasure and enjoyment including community and family spirit to many people and children. I hope this will continue for many years to come.

I spent my childhood at this club and gained many great friends and enjoyed many great games. The council's action is reprehensible and is in no way thinking about the long term benefits that a club brings to their area, and just looking for short term moentary gains.

Facilities of this Club provide a valuable contribution to the social fabric and welfare of the community. Voluntary facilities provided by this and other similar organisations deserve utmost support of the Council.

Shenfield Cricket Club established in 1921. My father John Burrows president for 30 years . I grew up at the club and both my son's played. It will be very sad for this long established successful club not to continue.

Gives so many people a sense of community. Inspiring sporting values in youngsters for many years. Would be tragic to see this club disappear

Any council has a duty to support local clubs, such as this cricket club, who provide activity and mental benefits to the local members. These amenities should never be seen as a revenue generator for the council.

Long standing established cricket club with good pedigree and strong colts section - played against them on strong sunday fixtures ..need to keep youngsters involved in outside activities and not closing them down

BBC yet again threatening our community in favour of lining their own pockets. Absolute disgrace.

Is it really worth it, Brentwood Borough Council?? To upset a community for the sake of 20 -25 car parking spaces. I hope you read every single comment written on this petition and REFLECT.
