The club is a great place for youngsters and adults alike, not only in Shenfield and Brentwood but much further afield in Essex. It simply must be supported by the local community and council - not have its existence threatened.

The Shenfield Cricket club is a valuable and crucial social facility. The value extends beyond sport and plays an important role bringing the community together, having a social and cultural impact. While more housing continues in Shenfield, the need for social space is evermore essential for the health and wellbeing of an increasing population.

Why are the Council interfering with a well run family club that is a key part of the local community. Surely they have more important issues to deal with in the borough?

Councils need to support local community clubs, especially when the clubs are successful and self-financing.
In this case it seems to me BBC have their eyes on the price of this site without thinking of the value of the club to the community.

This is a beautiful, well-used and an all-too-rare local resource. It is part of the very fabric of our community. Generations have grown up there and made lifetime friends. There is no need for incompetent council meddling. Just leave it alone and do something worthwhile instead.

As a parent at Shenfield High School I can see first hand what benefit this close link has for our young people. The club obviously needs a way of generate income,- so in my opinion the Council Should back away... Our community needs local sports clubs - especially such successful ones. My son plays for Brentwood,- who is he supposed to play against if Shenfield CC closes down? We are at Shenfield CC as a visiting team at least twice a year - and we always park there and buy a few drinks in the bar - all part of the way a small club survives. I hope the Council sees sense and start supporting SCC rather than put obstacles in their way.

Being an umpire it is appalling that such a policy should be considered. I wish the club all the best.

Our government and our Health Services perpetually stress the need for us all to take regular exercise. Why on earth would any thinking person wish to close down a respected Club which gives opportunities for young and old alike to play in an active sport .We need MORE not fewer such Clubs

Councils need to encourage sport, not discourage by putting in charges & threatening the existence of a valuable community asset.
Do not touch Shenfield CC
