This facility is invaluable to the local community. It produces a great outlet to children & adults of all ages, it would be a travesty if it were to be withdrawn. Shame on you if you do.

I joined Shenfield Cricket Club as one of it's first ever colts in 1985. The club is a focal point for the local community and provides a fantastic platform for children of all all ages to participate in a sport and develop lifelong friendships. For their parents it provides a safe and welcoming environment to watch their children play cricket. For us adults it offers the chance to either play or support our local team. The actions of Brentwood Council are not only greedy and selfish but they also show a total lack of respect for Shenfield and it's residents.

Shenfield Cricket Club has been a recognised Community hub for nearly a century with hundreds of boys and girls, and families having enriched childhoods/developing lifelong friendships as a result. The Council's actions are so short sighted, divisive and unrepresentative of what Sport England and the wider community are trying to achieve i.e. an active and healthy lifestyle; and building better communities.
Please reconsider this ill conceived approach, for the sake of our children and generations who follow.

The councils across Britain should not be taking sports facilities away from local communities.
If anything, they should be supporting them & taking greater care of these clubs providing sports outlets for local communities!
