I played with Shenfield CC from 1975 to 1979 before returning to my home in Australia. I was not only impressed with the zeal with which every member of the club approached their cricket but also the managing of the club and grounds. I was also impressed with the strong support the club got from the Shenfield community. As a Town Planner I know the importance of having such a vibrant club like SCC in a community like Shenfield not only for the development of the young players but also for the peaceful enjoyment of the whole community. Sporting clubs need finance to survive and I sincerely hope that Brentwood Borough Council cease their current course of action and look at other means of raising income and let SCC continue with the management of the carpark and to assist with its commercial viability.

Spent many afternoons supporting friends playing for S.C.C. Always a welcoming place at any time of day or evening. Part of your local community so do not it let it get resigned to history.

The council have never contributed to creationj or maintenance of the car park, which has been used by the club ever since it existed. If the council are short of funds, they should look to their own resources and operations instead of plundering local groups that exist for the benifit of the community.

I played in the Shenfield CC 1st XI through the 1960s and captained the Saturday side in 1969 prior to moving to Australia in early 1970. Since then the Club has gone from strength to strength and is a pillar of the community. Council should get behind the Club and support its activities rather than attempt to undermine it. Given the admirable record of the Club in promoting cricket and its great standing and popularity with local people it makes one wonder what kind of warped mind could have devised the current Council campaign.

Shenfield Cricket Club is a lovely family club which a huge number of the local community get great please from. Any action from the council should not affect the existence of this club. It would be terrible if this was to happen

A sports club is paramount to young people's development. In sport and life. The health benefits long term far outweigh short term financial gain for a council.
