I have been hearing from so many of you who remember Robert helping you at the store for years. Watching this community rally for a man who simply tried to prevent food waste has been a reminder of what McDowell should be about.

Seeing the way this community has rallied behind Robert proves that our town still values basic human kindness. I never expected this much momentum but it shows that people see the unfairness of what happened to him.

I hope some rich person buys the IGA and, gives it to Robert Bedard and he fires the one that fired him. But knowing this man a Christian. He wouldn't do it. He would turn the other cheek.
This boy was fired for no apparent reason! He walks to work every shift day or night. I know because I have picked him up several times walking in the rain/snow and it cold as hell. Bottom line he was wrongfully terminated!!!!
This was a heartless selfish act on behalf of IGA and I'm disappointed in this. Before any store throws away food they should offer it up for donation first! You never know who might be hungry, just because you don't make any profit doesn't mean generosity should go out the window!
I shop at IGA almost everyday and I drive right by Roberts house and if he has to work that day and I see him walking I'll pick him up or if he's heading home from work and I'm going that way I'll pick him up. He's one of the best workers down there, this was uncalled for and IGA should be ashamed of themselves and hire him back and apologize to him.
I will not shop at McDowell IGA again until they give this man an apologie. At least he is trying to work an honest job to support his family & then they reward his hard work with firing him right before Christmas over nonsense. God bless Him & his family.
This is so wrong and stupid! I don't see why they fired him for getting a pack of 1 day old cookies to feed his family! They were in the trash, so why does it matter? He should not be fired for trying to feed his family. He is a very hard working person! In fact, I used to see him walking to work every day through rain and snow! This is so stupid the IGA should be ashamed! I will not be shopping there anymore for the way they treated him!
Give him his job back he didn't do nothing wrong he needs his job to support his family he has kids he needs the money to fed and bath them and to give them a good Christmas

Loyalty holds no place in today's society. A man dedicated enough to walk to and from work through all sorts of weather. Surely deserves a second chance.
