SAVE PRESTON LIBRARY IN BRENT

Libraries are important for all ages and all communities

This library is a very valuable community hub. Please do not take away something which works so well. A much smaller place in a building of 12 flats will not be the same. Has any thought been put into this proposed project at all? We need this library/community hub kept as it is.

I still use this library. So do many others. Don't stop children from leaving their homes and don't encourage children to sit in front of their computers all day!!!

More housing needs better infrastructure. But instead of building more community facilities, this Council is shutting them down. The library building is the only community facility in Preston, and is not even run by the Council. We need more places for young people and elderly not less smaller places which this planning application will result in. The Council have given no guarantees that the building will remain as a library. The police contact sessions held there are the most successfully attended in the Borough. Once again this application disregards quality of life for Preston residents.

"Brent have thousands of flats already going up in Wembley" the traffic in and around Wembley is very often at a standstill and they just seem to want to put more and more people into a small area. Preston Road is now an awful unsightly road and this proposed building will add nothing and just cause more problems with parking etc. I object to this development going ahead.

A council and its constituent members are judged by what it does for its residents. Closing libraries is surely not an option in this age of increasing illiteracy. Whose stupid idea was this?

Why is the council hell bent on destroying the residents life by overcrowding the borough with ugly looking boxes that are flats?

The Merits of using the small site for a 4 storey block of flats has never been proved. The original plan was for 5flats on the site and 12 on the neighbouring site if they could buy the garage land. When they could not the council ’revised’ their plans to build 12 flats on the small library site - showing scant regard for social housing tenants rights and also for local residents. Libraries are Gems, in the age of technology. They are commodities just like gold. Hard to find but hold loads of value. Why not build.more libraries I say.

The library gives a lot of old and young people a place to visit and feel part of a community. It is often a part of a visit to the high street. You can’t put a financial value on that. Brent is meant to be a caring borough to service the needs of a very diverse and successful community that I have been a part of for over 43 yrs. A block of 12 flats in place of the library would be a huge mistake. Think again please and don’t destroy what’s good for a migre financial benefit.

Brent has thousands of flats going up in Wembley. 12 extra flat will not make much difference to the council overall. But taking away one library will make a devastating difference to the community in Preston Road , Kenton, North Wembley and surrounding areas. It is not just a library for borrowing books but a community space where mothers and babies / toddlers meet. Please use disused areas for flats not our treasured library.

We do not need anymore flats and all the extra traffic/cars it will bring into the area. Please just let us keep our library as it is.

I do not think this proposal is best use of tax payers money to build flats. It's not cost effective, we don't need more in Wembley. It's already overcrowded and don't have the infrastructure. We need to invest in the infrastructure like getting people on the employment ladder, investing in education provision etc. The library is community based, offers services to all different aged people and brings local communities together. Please renovate the library and not build flats.

This library is am important part of our neighbourhood and Brent council should recognise the importance of keeping it for that the young, old and infirm who cannot travel.
