I just saw the number hit one hundred and I actually had to sit down for a second because it feels like suddenly people are finally looking at the maps and seeing what we deal with out here. It is just so much for an eleven year old to handle and I am honestly shocked that so many of you get why we are fighting so hard to keep our kids home.

I was checking the list earlier and just started crying because thinking about those kids on that ferry in the dark is honestly the only thing keeping me awake lately. It is so overwhelming to see that so many of you actually care about what happens to our little community here and it makes me feel like we might actually have a fighting chance.

The wind was howling against the windows this morning and it just made me think about those children on the ferry again which is honestly terrifying. I have been spending my nights drafting emails to the council because they need to understand that eleven is far too young to handle those sea conditions alone.

The future is not all about cities and cost reduction, it is about healthy, sustainable communities living in proximity to and understanding with natural spaces. On behalf of The Clipperton Project, I'd like to say that we completely support the existence of your secondary school.

Appalling management at SIC is the budget issue not children wanting to enjoy their family life. Good Luck.
How would you like your child being forced to leave their family aged 11? How would you like having choice taken away? This is clearly detrimental to struggling small rural island communities already living on a knife edge. Places like Out Skerries are very unique and special and we should be doing all we can to keep these places alive. Children thrive where they are part of a community. The school building is open and in use anyway so no saving there. Use Distance Learning options to enhance their learning opportunities and THINK about the Family Unit.
Must keep island secondary schools like Skerries open or we will lose all island communities. If it closes young families will leave and no new families will be attracted to live on Skerries.
