We would like to be proactive in preserving our open waterfront for Newburyport and the surrounding communities, for all, from our youth to our elders to enjoy. Be proud of our maritime heritage, whose heart is our waterfront park, and has been enjoyed by the public for decades. The park is our connection to the waterfront and should never be considered for privatized development. Large-scale privatized development on one of the last remaining open waterfronts in New England would be a dishonor to our children now, and for future generations. A 20 million dollar, three story building is not the solution to dusty parking lots. We are not against development as a whole, rather, we suggest Smart Growth Development in the right location.  Our waterfront and any proposed development should remain for the people, not the privileged few.
