The council just voted to scrap the expansion plan and keep our roads exactly as they are. We stopped the destruction of our trees and held our ground against this overreach. Stay alert for any new proposals but for now celebrate this win because we earned it.
Save Our Dirt Roads. The town wants to expand our dirt roads and right-of -way to 41-60 feet wide. It will wipe out our trees and the charm of our town. Tell the council NO to road expansions. This will be the town standard. Your street may be next!
The town council is dismissing project impacts on our local trees and character. Email your representative today to demand a halt to these expansion plans before they reach your neighborhood.

The town council can no longer pretend that people are indifferent to the destruction of our trees. Post this link on Facebook right now and email your local representative to demand they stop these expansions.

Windermere is loved by residents because of it’s quaint small town feel and stately oaks. Expanding the roads, which will encroach into our yards, cut down trees, and only entice people to drive faster, is a step in the opposite direction.

We are in favor of working with the Town Council to find solutions to our town’s traffic and drainage issues that won’t impact or sacrifice the essence of Windermere - primary features being our gorgeous, mature trees, our charming sand roads and our pristine Butler Chain of Lakes.

We just moved from Dr Phillips to get away from the subdivision feel. Please do don ruin the quant Windermere feel that we fell in love with.

Widening the roads to that extreme will take much of the amazing beauty of this Town away. We will lose our charm if this becomes the standard for storm water and also become a major polluter of the Lakes as we have no underlying infrastructure to handle the storm drainage. This plan should be dead on arrival.

Widening roads or changing the surface will seriously harm the magic of Windermere Town, increase the speed of traffic and present a greater danger to children and active residents, of which there are many.

I will not vote to widen any of the streets of Windermere and will fight the Town should the town attempt to take additional right-of-way by eminent domain.

For those of us who have been long-term residents and will continue to be you need to keep the roads as they are. Changing them in the manner which you are proposing changes completely the town and will invite more congestion down our roads
