This petition is aimed at anyone who believes that British Pubs are an important part of the British way of live, as well as part of our culture and community, and as such should not be lost. In recent times we have all seen numerous public house lost in our coummunities to become convenience stores/fast food outlets or otherwise developed into alternative housing. All of these so called ‘alternative uses’ have proved to be in my opinion detrimental to the surrounding communities. It seems that we now have property management companies governing the fate of public houses throughout the country. These companies such as Punch Taverns an Enterprise Inns have bought up a huge amount of Public houses in this country. They are in fact the two biggest owners of public houses in the country and seem to pride themselves on being known as brewery’s. However they actually brew nothing!! They are quite simply property management companies which seem intent on selling THEIR properties no matter whether the existing pub business is profitable or not. They have no interest or knowledge in the local area, and no interest in what the local people want or need. All their Landlords/ leaseholders are held to the BEER TIE, this means that the non brewing land owners can ‘at any time’ adjust their supply prices, this subsequently means that they are able to ‘at any time’ dictate whether a business is viable or non viable. If they have an attractive offer from an interested property developer they simply raise supply prices!! Hence making the pub business non viable. Once the property has been submitted to the council as non viable then they have the perfect excuse to apply for planning permission for alternative use. THEY HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL. The Bittern Public House is the next victim to this despicable/devious and down right underhand business practice and we refuse to go down without exposing these disgraceful tactics to the public. We do not believe that these people have the right to destroy local communities for pure greed, and we are prepared to fight for our pub and our community. Lets show these commercial bullies the extent of ‘people power’ and lets show them that enough is enough. Join us now to put an end to this injustice , make a stand with us , if you don’t it will be your local next !!!!

The beer tie is strangling our local pubs and these property companies refuse to listen to anyone but their developers. Post this link on your Facebook page today and call your local council representative to demand they protect our community spaces.

The momentum behind this campaign proves that our communities will not stand by while our pubs are treated like simple assets for profit. Take this energy and call your local council member today to demand protection for our neighborhood hubs. Send this link to three people who value the local pub as much as you do.

Keep the pub open. The beer tie is a total con and everyone knows it.

This is our local. Where else are we suppose to go? Sick of these greedy companies ripping the heart out of every village.

PLEASE leave it alone. The pub is the only place left for the community to come together. We dont need another overpriced shop.
