In 1923, Francis J. Mahar started a chain of small, family orientated grocery stores in the local communities. Besides providing meat, produce and dry goods at reasonable prices, many high school and college students were employed by the Mahar family, along with adults supporting their family. Today, 90 years later, these staples of our community is being threatened. By adding your signature here, you will be showing your support for the "Mom & Pop Stores" and also, thanking the Mahar family for their service and dedication for helping to make our community home.

The stories shared in the comments section highlight how deeply these stores are woven into our local history. I am currently reaching out to local representatives to discuss the future of the Park and Shop location.

The momentum behind this effort clearly demonstrates the value our community places on the Mahar family legacy. These signatures reflect a shared commitment to preserving the businesses that have defined our neighborhood for decades.

Enough with the corporate takeovers already. Shop local and quit pushing out the families that actually care about this town.
