This is a much needed service for our hospital. Not every labour lasts longer than the 30-45 mins it takes to get to Burnie. I can just imagine how many babies will be born on the side of the highway or at home because of this rediculous decision
See if I have this right, Burnie does not have a maternity ward, (except at the private hospital) so they will need to create one! Hmm, didn't the Federal Gov just pay for huge upgrades to the Maternity ward at Latrobe? Typical pollies can't get it right still!!
When I was a patient at the Latrobe Maternity ward for the birth of my son they transported pregnant women and women who had already given birth from Burnie to Latrobe as Burnie did not have enough beds so how is Burnie going to cope at busy times? The government is breaching their duty of care!
Removing this service form this part of the coast is going to cause a lot of anxiety for pregnant mums. it is inequitable that may patients who can ill afford it will need to travel to Burnie for appointments and the birth in times when finances are tight for many people.
Need this hospital 2 b saved my newest grandson was born there this morning would not hve made it 2 Burnie also hve smaller children at hme 2 c 2 no way they could afford 2 travel back and forwards 2 Burnie surely there is enough people 2 support bith hospital's
I had the pleasure of birthing at the Mersey... And it could not have been any better!! I had beautiful help and support throughout my whole experience from the wonderful midwifery the team! Save this wonderful ward!!! ❤️

Please dont close our maternity ward, child birth is terrifying enough with out adding the worry of getting to the hospital on time. We have the right to feel safe and to know that our unborn babies are safe.
