My family and I are building a premanufactured home that is being set on a permanent foundation in the City of Rockport. My parents gifted us this land property so we could have our own home but still be close to them so we can take care of them as they are aging.
The City of Rockport has mistaken what the term "premanufactured home that is being set on a permanent foundation" means. We are building a nice home, not an eyesore. Not a rundown trailer that's needed to be torn down 10 years ago. In the photo shown is a close replica of what the new home would look like.
I have surveyed the neighborhood and all neighbors in my area and not a single neighbor objects to this or the positioning of the dwelling.
The City of Rockport is stating that it was to close to the side walk. There are other houses closer than where we want to place final position. They also said it would be an eye sore to see the property turned with the front door facing adjacent of the road. According to local ordinances, there is no regulations that specifies which direction the front door must be facing.
We have reached out to a lawyer here in Indiana because we have less than 30 days for the Board of Zoning Appeal.

I really never expected this many people to pay attention to a zoning issue in our neighborhood. It is completely overwhelming to see you all come forward like this when I just wanted to keep my family together. This is happening because of your kindness rather than anything I did.

This is ridiculous. It is your own land and the homes look perfectly fine. Rockport needs to stop being so difficult about this.
THEY ARE NICE HOUSES!! My sister lives in one and it looks just like any other house on the block. Stop the zoning madness.
let them build it! its to take care of aging parents which is a good thing not a crime.
Ridiculous rules. The city has better things to do than harass people trying to build a nice home for their family.
The rules should apply to everyone equally not just when it fits the city's mood. Good luck with the appeal.

Been watching this move along and its just plain wrong. City planning is so out of touch.
