The management confirmed today that they are locking in our current class schedule and abandoning the plans to cut our sessions. I spent so many hours in that gym feeling anxious about losing our community but today proves that our presence there truly matters. Let us keep showing up and …

A PETITION has been launched to make the voices of the members heard, after plans to reduce the existing timetable any further.

Over the last few months, Abbey Leisure Centre, in Barking has consistently changed and cancelled classes. Since the new timetable started in January 2019, the timetable in place has been successful, and meets the needs & requirements of the members. The classes are attended and receiving great feedback.

We are asking that the management allow the classes to grow with more proactive input from themselves so as to increase membership and attendance?

We ask that management look at how they rate classes on realistic capacity of classes, so as to reflect the area of the gym?

As members and workers we want the Abbey Leisure centre to Thrive not Die!

This petition is to stop anymore changes to either dismiss and cancel any further classes; at the Abbey Leisure centre in Barking. just let it GROW...

PLEASE NOTE: NAME SHAMING NOT ALLOWED, JUST KEEP IT TO THE CAUSE ITSELF!

Seeing 250 of you sign this hits home because this gym is where I find my focus every single day. Knowing so many others rely on these classes keeps me going when I feel like giving up on this fight. We clearly have a community that refuses to let our space lose its spark.

I have been hearing from so many of you who rely on these classes to stay healthy and connected to our community. The management remains quiet for now but your stories prove how vital this space is to everyone who uses it.

I am still paying my membership due to the studio classes, which the timetable has already been reduced. If the plans is to reduce even more what is the point of paying such high membership.

Please do not take Friday evening classes off timetable. It was buzzing with people tonight and great atmosphere. I request to the MANAGER in charge for classes should stay and see how those precious member of everyone active was enjoying the class with Laz.

Can management please explain what exactly is the reason for taking some classes off timetable? I have been attending classes and can see there's reasonable numbers attending so please explain why would management make decision to reduce some classes?

I only attend abbey leisure because of the classes. Instructors inspires me and I enjoy the company of other members together in group exercise class. Comparing to other local gym Abbey has quality classes so please do not remove classes.

The classes that you're considering to remove are some of the best classes & conducted by your best instructors & they're getting more popular. Please do not remove these classes. Thank you very much. I'm you loyal & continued member for over 16 years.

I love the classes at Abbey Leisure, it was the main reason I signed up and have stayed a member for 9 years! I have made a lot of friends from attending them as well. Please stop cancelling them for no good reason!

Someone made a wrong decision regarding Laz's classes. She teaches 3 classes and management has taken all 3!! I heard because of the class numbers not high enough WTH!!!! if the class numbers are low as 2/3 people I would understand however on Thursday morning her class brings atleast 12 to 18 people and on Friday evening is the same so it's sufficient enough to keep these classes going. Something is not right they have unfairly dismissed Laz. It's very clear. I hope she raise complain and so they can look into the matter and then give her classes back. I can't wait to hear that and I hope and so I can continue with the classes.
