It’s increasingly difficult for roller derby leagues to find and keep practice and bouting space. Roller derby is a great sport that builds strong connections and community. Please create a shared space that could benefit multiple communities.

City leadership - your civic duty is to provide for safe & accessible infrastructure and programs for your residents. Recreational spaces should be multifaceted and serve the widest variety of interests and uses. Please do not destroy valuable multi-use spaces for limited fads. Create spaces and show conspicuous support for a wide variety of recreational and performing arts.

Do NOT DO THIS. Rollerskating is a beautiful community and we absolutely need to keep spaces that we love. Pickleball is a microtrend that’ll die out in the next few months, not to mention that A TRILLION COURTS ALREADY EXIST. don’t do this.

The hockey rink should stay! Pickleball can be played anywhere else but not hockey!

Pickleball is taking over established spaces where other people have been peacefully sharing space for years. There is no reason why pickball should be allowed to push out other groups when the space is so easily shared with MANY different activities. This is happening all over the country and it has to stop. They can share just like everyone else.

It’s SO important to have a space for ALL types of physical activity to serve as a healthy outlet for all community members. Roller derby has had a consistent presence here for years! Please create a plan to allow that option to continue!

Roller derby is not a fad sport like pickle ball. The roller derby community is an inclusive sport offering a home to all sorts of people. The community has been around for years and relies on spaces like the Laguna hockey rink. Please do not replace this vital resource with pickle ball courts.

Please don’t wipe out the local roller derby’s home (and only facility option) for the sake of another pickleball-only court! Let’s work together to build a track we can both play on as one Laguna Hills family <3

While I don't live in Laguna Hills, for over 10 years I have benefited from the community roller derby provides to women, girls & gender expansive individuals. We have so few spaces that are accessible and ours, please consider the broader impacts, especially in this political climate to removing access like this. Mixed use spaces benefit far more people, especially those that traditional spaces & sports may not easily welcome.
