​Save our derby track! Petition to convert approved pickleball courts into a shared-use space​

Stop it. It's bad enough that pickleball takes over tennis spaces, but at least they are both raquet sports. Skating is a fantastic form of exercise, with the added benefit of teamwork when you consider hockey and roller derby. Killing 2 sports for the sake of 1?

Save roller derby space! It is so hard to find space to fit a roller derby track, and now one of those spaces is to be turned into pickleball courts (way easier to find other courts or spaces for that)

SAVE THE RINK

LONG LIVE LAGS Laguna Hills Skatepark has been a sanctuary to wheels of all skill levels from beginner to professional, the destruction of the rink is valid as its not up to standards, however the destruction of a community is not, the skaters that call Lags their home park root for flag ground, push on!

Please don’t take this place of community away. This is a big part of what’s unique about our local community, that cultivates a vibrant culture and a sense of belonging, rather than tearing it down for another pickle ball court (which is a type of space that’s already available throughout Orange country)!

Skating is so dope for the community and pickleball is lame

The trend of changing multi-use spaces into single use pickleball courts is short sighted. Pickleball can also be played in these spaces without taking it away from other community groups like roller derby. Please look into alternative options! There are so few multi-use spaces left!!!

The community loves the diverse groups that come through these courts. It keeps the space lively and welcoming! I enjoy spending my time here watching the derby skaters!

This is where I learned to play roller hockey and has a special place in my heart. I want to be able to teach my future child how to roller skate here to continue the legacy

Roller derby is a way of life to us. We are already limited in the spaces we have. Those courts can be put up and taken down. We are a great group of loving people who just need a place to skate, please don't take that away.

Please make it a shared place!

There are no other public rinks around here. To remove the rink is to excise a community of people from their passion. Make it shared or dont make it at all!

I don’t approve of the pickleball courts!

We do not need pickleball courts as bad as we need this derby ring.

Keep the skating rink!!!!

This place is a gathering place for many clubs and sports a like to create a space for community and growth. It is a significant third place and one of the few environments that provides a positive impact for those of all age ranges. Please reconsider the demolition/ reconstruction of this area thank you.

Save hockey because I and my family benefited extremely from the sport. Children turned into CPA, nurse and homeless shelter employee. Sharing is the right thing to do.
