​Save our derby track! Petition to convert approved pickleball courts into a shared-use space​

Roller derby is one a unique and inclusive space for many - there are not many physical spaces that allow for this type of community to exist. We need spaces of belonging now more than ever. Please don’t take this away from us.

Roller derby is a full contact sport that provides an inclusive and positive space for people to grow their athleticism and themselves. By taking away the home of a roller derby league, you’d be throwing an entire community into disarray. It’s a DIY sport and finding affordable space to practice in is extremely difficult. A shared-use space would serve both the pickleball and roller derby communities at once.

There is nowhere else we can practice.

It would be nice if we could share the space, there's not many things left for young people to do this seems like a healthy thing to have a skating rink for the girls.

Pickleball does not need all that space, cmon now

There are plenty of places to play pickleball but very few to play hockey or roller derby

My friend played on this team for a few years in college and she had such a wonderful experience. Watching her play on the community center rink brought so much joy and was a truly joining community event. Please don’t take away community that has already been found. Destroying a good thing that already exists does no good for our community.

Roller derby creates inclusivity and forms a space where everyone feels welcomed. I’d hate to see this team lose that kind of space, when we can share the love.

Derby needs safe places for skating! Pickle ball can easily be set up with a tennis court and doesn’t need to eat into an already in use, safe skating area

Let’s keep this as a shared use space so everyone can enjoy the facilities!

Im tired of pickleball taking communal spaces and changing them to just fit THEIR needs. Spaces like this is not just for derby. Roller hockey, skateboarding, children scootering, soccer, an eclosed area for small kids to run around in and parents dont need to worry about them running off. Pickleball has mobile nets, ive seen them and ive seen them being used.
