We are a group of mental health service users. We are asking for your support with our campaign to “Save Our Centre”. The Causeway Centre has been a welcoming and supportive environment for many people with mental health problems for about 15 years. It had an ethos of service user empowerment . We don’t have much time. We were given a letter about the closure on 24 July, with the last opening day being 30 August. For us, the building is important; it’s a landmark and somewhere we feel safe. Familiarity and continuity is essential for our wellbeing. Many of us suffer with severe and enduring mental health problems. We have set up a Facebook Page 'Causeway Member' and we’d like anyone who has ever used the Causeway Centre or has an association with it to sign our petition and to perhaps write on the Facebook page and say what it’s meant to them. We are not hopeful but we feel that we cannot simply allow the closure of this mental health resource to go unmarked.
