Save Oldham's Diving Pool
There are more than 80 children who currently have diving lessons every week at Oldham Sports Centre, some of whom are members of Oldham Diving Club, who have competed and represented Oldham in Regional & National competitions, often coming away with medals after competing against divers from clubs with some of the best facilities in the Country Unfortunately, these children and around 200 scuba divers stand to lose the only diving facilities we have within the borough if the council's plans to rebuild the centre without a diving pool go ahead. This would not only see the end of Oldham Diving Club, which has been around for many, many years and has produced some fantastic divers from Olympic standard down to novice divers, but it also takes away sporting facilities from the town’s children The Government and Council alike have for some time now been telling us how important it is for our children to eat healthily and lead an active life and yet these plans go against these principles as the children will lose a sport which they are committed to and thoroughly enjoy. At a time when the world is focussed on the 2012 Olympics we really need the support of everyone to get behind us. Please show your support and help us to persuade Oldham Council to reconsider their plans.
