There is a proposal being brought before the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission to allow a hunting season for Sandhill Cranes in Northwest Colorado. Cranes are a unique species that evoke a powerful emotional response from people. They are part of what makes Northwest Colorado a special place both for its residents and tourists. Additionally, they have not yet fully recovered from their historic low numbers of 150-200 breeding pairs in this range. We, the undersigned, urge the Commissioners to maintain the current state regulations which prohibit hunting of the Rocky Mountain population of Sandhill Cranes in Northwest Colorado.
