Dear Supervisor David Chiu:

We, the undersigned, call on you as the elected representative for North Beach and President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, to ask the Board of Supervisors to adopt an emergency resolution imposing a moratorium on all Central Subway-related construction and utility relocation work in North Beach until the anticipated two years of major disruptive impacts to local businesses and residents can be fully understood and addressed to the satisfaction of North Beach businesses and residents.

You have been a big supporter of the Central Subway Project.  However, the Central Subway is not going to serve North Beach while the massive and constant disruptions that will be caused by two years of street closures and construction on Columbus Avenue next to Washington Square Park will cause devastating damage to the heart of this vibrant and vital neighborhood.

Muni plans to start this work imminently so please act now!

Sincerely,
Your Constituents

Seeing 250 signatures on this petition is truly overwhelming because I never imagined so many people would join me in this effort. This is entirely due to your willingness to speak up for our neighborhood. I am just the person who started the page but you are the ones making this real.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to help protect our neighborhood. We are just a few names away from hitting one hundred signatures and your momentum is the only reason this is even being noticed.

Stop this until the North Beach resident & businesses understand it. They should make sure that the residents and businesses are fully accommodated. ADA Disability ramps and access to signal changing buttons and other items. Don't let the SFMTA decide what they want to do with no input from the neighborhood

The current Central Subway plans are a pathetic failure, so the MTA's answer is to dig the proverbial hole deeper. It all makes sense in an upside-down world.

This is gonna kill the small businesses on Columbus. Nobody is gonna want to shop with all the noise and dust everywhere.

Traffic is already a nightmare around Washington Square. This is just gonna make it impossible to park or even walk down the block safely.

It is totally wasting money for nothing. It is Mayor Edwin Lee's corruption.
