It is the place my grandson looked forward to play in. It would be a tragic loss to the community.

Why tear down such a beautiful stadium? My son plays baseball there and it is a beautiful factility for baseball.

This facility has been used for MANY years by youth & young adults. Are we now saying that they are unimportant to the community & that a Div 1 USL soccer team is ? Let's also consider what Abbotsford's "farm hockey team" has cost their community. Sorry but I'm of the old school & to me this proposal is "a pig in a poke" - it's unknown how long it will last, whether it will bring any revenue to New West or whether it will just be a huge financial drain. And why are we promoting a spectator sport rather than a participant activity? & what's the hurry??

We had better save this for our children and our grandchildren.

As a proud supporter of Little League in BC we feel it would sad to take a way a field that holds so many memories and so many promises for future baseball athletes to come. Soccer is a great sport as well and provides a great outlet for kids growing up but to trade one for the other is just not right.

Sacrificing one established sport for another is unacceptable. I implore the City to takes a strategic look at the park space and put in place an appropriate long term plan. Rushing into a deal that cause one association to suffer and one association to flourish is foolish. Has anyone considered Mercer Stadium for this new Soccer team?

This is a rushed, poorly conceived initiative that has far more benefits to the Whitecaps than to the people of New Westminster, and will diminish this beautiful stadium. It does not need to be a dedicated soccer stadium.

Some of my best ball memories have been at the stadium, as well as my children's memories and now my grand children will be denied this privilage, Stop this it is soooooo wrong.

Did we not just participate in a consultation process to develop a master plan for Queens Park? I recall it being an process that took place over many months with many opportunities for people to provide input and ask questions. NOW, during the summer months while many are out of town, the City is asking for input on a "proposal" (not part of the master plan) that will have far-reaching, long-term ramifications. City Council will vote on this proposal in the next few weeks!? No one wants to tell us how much this is going to cost the taxpayers of New Westminster. Queens Park is a COMMUNITY treasure intended to serve the people of New Westminster, not a taxpayer-funded commodity to serve the interests of a commercial enterprise.

The city of New Westminster actively prevented public discussion on this issue at both the July 29th and the August 9th community forum. City officials refused to allow public questions from the audience – though the audience demanded such a format – and instead only allowed attendees to speak one-on-one to certain reps spread out around the venues. This, along with the glaring lac of specific information and the very tight time line, send up big red flags for me.
