The Whitecaps should go back to Swangard Stadium and leave our Queens Park alone. Swangard is a beautiful setting to watch a game, It is an existing stadium with a larger seating capacity, more parking and more convenient access via Skytrain. If there are issues between the City of Burnaby and the Whitecaps, they should work at them and get a positive resolution. Swangard is clearly a better option than the proposed Queens Park plan!

I have coached baseball for many years in the lower mainland, it is difficult to see a great baseball field being turned into a soccer field. There are many other soccer fields that could be used for this purpose. Lets save baseball in New West.

This proposal will cost NW taxpayers a lot of money, for little in return.

Save this classic venue for baseball. It is ideal for the city and lower mainland baseball.

I don't believe that bringing the Whitecaps feeder club to queens Park Stadium is in the best interest of our community as a hole.having the city pay for the benefit of a private company smacks of the worst type of corporate welfare. This is a community venue and should be used as such first and foremost.

Queen's Park is a local park and is not suitable for a team of this size. There is no where near enough parking and i would not be in favour of making more parking. There must be other locations in New Westminster that would be more appropriate. At least take more time to make an informed decision.

As a New West taxpayer, I object to the exclusive use of a public facility for the exclusive use by a private corporation. If it is true that the field is to only be used by the soccer club, then it completely contradicts the idea of a public park. Queens Park Arena is used by minor hockey, lacrosse, rec league hockey and lacrosse, NWSS grad, etc. The other facilities are also well used by various user groups. The changes to the Queens Park master plan seem to be quite dramatic, and are seemingly being rushed. Why? Who is benefitting from these changes. How much money is changing hands that does not benefit the tax payers and user groups of the entire park. What happens to the planned second sheet of ice at QPA. What happens to the tennis court and dog park users? All of whom lose to a soccer field used 12-14 times per year. At the very least, this needs to be delayed until there has been more study and feedback. Curious that this is being pushed when a lot of people are away on late summer holidays.

I played baseball for 12 years in the New Westminister program and have umpired for almost as long I would hate to see a stadium that I played on and watched more then a few games played no longer have ball players on it.

Baseball at the Queen's Park Stadium is an institution, much like hockey and lacrosse at the Queen's Park Arena which will be severely impacted with parking problems if the Whitecaps come to New Westminster.

What a great turnout at tonight's City Council meeting. Everyone spoke so passionately and raised some very important questions about the proposal and the process. Council would be hard pressed to put corporate interests before community needs.
