This school must be saved for the benefit of the pupils and the community. The education that the children receive is second to none. My own children acknowledged that their success was due to attending a small school like this. As an ex primary school teacher I despair when I read of children moving on to the next stage in their education unable to cope with the demands of the educational system. The standards that the children in these small schools achieve should be the norn and not the exception.

We need to keep schools like this open! I live in an area where eight primary schools have been closed and instead four super sized schools have been built. I work in a comprehensive school as a literacy officer and worry that the size of the classes are detrimental to the learning of the pupils. The number of pupils needing extra tuition in literacy skills has increased as since class numbers have increased. In my opinion, not only should we return to teaching and concentrating the basics of education in orimary schools, but the numbers in classes should be addressed too. There are too many children that lack the basic literacy skills 'slipping through the net'. This is probably caused by there being too many children in the classes, not the fault of the teachers themselves!

This is a beautiful little school,loved by pupils & teachers alike. It provides a high standard of education & is vital to provide accessible schooling within a rural community.Please allow it to continue to do so.

I feel that there must be consideration of rural areas and the lack of services, which are being eroded more and more. Schools are the heart of their community - maybe we need to be innovative in the way we approach the costs - and the Welsh Gov also need to realise how badly Powys is being hit

A long journey to and from school, so extending the length of the day, is both tiring and detrimental for young children.
Also schools with small numbers can be very beneficial for young children with a much friendlier, family- like atmosphere, in which they thrive. These benefits are impossible to express in financial terms, but shouldn't be forgotten. What is best for the children should be the primary consideration.

The cost of providing services in a rural areas needs to be appreciated by all. Nantmel is not the smallest school not does it have the highest cost per pupil. It has provided an excellent standard of teaching over nearly 160 years. Long may it continue.

I know Powys CC have to make very difficult decisions at the present time but this does look like a very special place that should be preserved.

Local schools are at the heart of local communities. also - if we have any interest in the welfare of our children - do we want them to have to get up and travel so early each morning to get to the schools which remain open? Surely too with some imagination money can be raised to assist in maintaining such schools-they become holiday homes in due course! I think the local community would find the energy to raise funds to assist in some way rather than this drastic action!

Local authorities at it again. Political point scoring, cutting front line services; schools, libraries and refuse collection rather than working to be more efficient whilst shamelessly demanding yet more funds from both govt and council tax payers..

I have heard today that the Welsh education funding is now not going to be cut so surely this will save the closure of such an excellent school -no excuses now councillors
