Nantmel is a remarkable school. Both my children went there and it has provided them both with a great foundation to their future studies.

A school of this size provides a far better level of education to it's pupils than those who have a far greater number of pupils…It should be kept open…as it produces first class pupils who will achieve very high levels in their further education.

Rural schools are the heart of these small communities. It would be such a shame to see this school closed and a disappointment for the children.

Absolutely gutted that this fine school at the centre of a wonderful community is threatened with closure to effectively save peanuts. Maybe the council's should look at the proposed reductions in the number of councils which would save an estimated 260 million. Or is that a little to close to home?

My daughter attended this school 30 years ago. It served our community perfectly and it would be short sighted and expensive to close it down

By closing this school, Powys County Council will cause irreparable damage to the rural community. PCC are taking away parental choice, choosing to make meagre savings rather than putting the welfare of our children first! Stop using Supply teachers for regular and repeat employment....start by making savings there!

I did some part time work at the school a number of years ago. Dedicated staff, lovely children and it is the heart of this village. It will be a crime to get rid off an excellent, caring school such as this.

This school is at the heart of the community and will be a huge loss not only to the puils and parents who send their children to this school with its wonderful village/family atmosphere but also to all those who rely on the building for other functions as there is no other public venue in the area.

Please don't close our school and our community hub, we do not have anything else in the village so it is vital that we stay open for everyone.

Small schools are the glue keeping small rural communities together and strong. Class sizes in larger Powys primary schools are becoming unmanageable because of closures to smaller schools. My daughter's class, in a school near Brecon, is full to the max, placing pressure on teachers and learners alike. Why not start to save money by cutting the grotesque pay packets paid to Chief execs and other such 'top dogs' in Powys County Council instead.
