As an Academic Decathlon alumnus who now runs the competitions in Massachusetts, I can speak firsthand to the wonders this program works and the incredible impact it has had on students nationwide. Robbing the students of a Decathlon class would crush the team and cut students off from something that truly changes lives. Not only does it provide many kids with a safe family and community, it has taught so many young minds just how much they love to learn and what they're capable of when they put their minds to it. In today's age, where doomscrolling and outsourcing thinking to AI is the norm, this program is more necessary than ever.

This elective is one of the most successful programs at Moniteau. It would be more detrimental to the future success of Moniteau to close Decathlon, than it would be to eliminate the football program.
