I had the opportunity to work with Lexie personally on this team, and she is an amazing person who strives to work hard. She did so well and I'm proud to call her part of my Academic Decathlon Family

We are new to the district this year. Academic Decathlon was one of the things we were the most excited about in coming to Moniteau. My daughter is very intelligent and we knew Academic Decathlon would be a good challenge for her. It absolutely did! Ms. Kristy Hershey challenged the kids and showed them how fun hard work can be. I feel that the program will completely fall apart if it is not a graded class. Kids have many other after school activities that will conflict. Eventually all the kids will lose interest when they have to pick between other extra curricular activities. A graded class will keep them motivated to keep studying, making them more prepared for college then many of their peers. Please reconsider keeping Academic Decathlon a graded class for these hard working kids and our beloved, hardworking teacher, Kristy Hershey.

This was my first year on Moniteau’s Academic Decathlon team and already it has taught be so much and has genuinely changed my life. Not having it as an elective class would be detrimental to the team and would be absolutely devastating.

The students work hard. They deserve to keep this as a class. I sincerely hope the people making this decision reconsider.

As an alumni with 3 nationals under the belt we need this elective. It prepares students for future opportunities and jobs. It also fosters a family

The dismissal of Moniteau's academic decathlon team doesn't just affect them as well. With their willingness to host competitions and help CL and NC with transportation to state competitions, they're more important than what meets the eye. This program needs to continue, not just for the children of the school, but for the enjoyment of competition for the rest of the state. These kids deserve Academic Decathlon.

Academic Decathlon is vital to the development of bright minds at the high school level. I am gifted to have gone to a high school which not only accepts academic decathlon, but supports it to the upmost degree. Moniteau High School Academic Decathlon, and their team of amazing people, have had nothing but positive interactions with my team throughout the years. It would be an awful shame to see such an amazing program to to waste, as it has provided an outlet of curiosity and team building for students who may not be interested in football, or baseball, or soccer, where most school funding goes.

Academic Decathlon was a program I was happy to be a part of for three years. In the time I competed it made me a better student, it gave me valuable experiences, and it arguably made me a smarter person. Furthermore, in those years I competed, I had the amazing opportunity to travel alongside Moniteau and to get to know their team a little bit. It wouldnt be right to strip the next generation of students of the opportunity this program provides for them like it did for us.

academic decathlon is an unparalleled experience for students. it makes them better students, learners, speakers, and well-rounded people. not allowing students an option to participate in this program is taking away an opportunity for academic and personal growth on a level regular academics and extracurriculars can't provide.

Keep this strong program in the school's ecosystem. These students are incredibly talented and gifted, especially Ireland because she told me about this petition.

As a student here at Moniteau, the Academic Decathlon team has been one of the largest prides of our school. It is so important to the culture of the school and to many kids that set out to achieve higher things academically. Losing the Decathlon team would signify to me that intelligence is no longer prioritized here, as the Decathlon team has been very successful and has taught its members so much. This team represents Moniteau just as well as any other program, and it cannot be understated that the politics behind such a move as getting rid of the program are extreme and detrimental to many Moniteau students and former students. The Moniteau Academic Decathlon team needs to stay.
