I wonder who in the right state of mind would not like it to be retained as museum. Why rob us and our posterity of this beautiful historical monument.

This judicial activism must stop. It's not judicuary's job to decide how many medical colleges we should have? Mohatta Palace Museum is by the people, for the people, especially of Karachi. This populist decision of the Sindh High Court will have dangerous ramifications for Karachi's children who are already living in a cultural less, austere environment. Mohatta Palace Museum is an oasis in this fast becoming a cultural hinterland of a country. Judiciary and state must realise how important cultural places are for the development and growth of nation to make it civilised and educated.

It will be a pity turn this noble building with unique history into anything other than a museum

Ambassador Retd Tariq Osman Hyder

My father late Ambassador Sajjad Hyder served there in Mohatta Palace in early 1950 on return from his first postion ( after the Army) in the new Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. Again for 3 years after returning from our Embassy in Washimgton DC. He was the Private Secretary to the the Foreign Secretary Mr.Ikramullah ..We lived a few hundred yards away on the ground floor with later Ambassador Iqbal Akund and his wife Lala living on the first floor of two story Chagla House towards Clifton Point overlooking the Sea.Raffi Raza and his patents lived next door.
Mohatta Palace and its symbolizing our Foeign Office was very much a part of my child hood and my memories of reverence.
It was rightly turned into a Museum because of its post Partition national importace,as well as its intrinsic architectual and cultural imortance ,and of course in memory of the Quaid's great and noble sister who carried on the struggle ,and should remain as such.
Institutions including cultural ones make countries. Destroying them for essentially shortsighted populist reasons contribute to national decay.

This is a historical building and a treat to the people of Karachi . The city which already ruined its heritage. Please avoid any other activities here. The place should be used as museum and cultural and musical purposes only
