I am signing this as a citizen of Karachi. Mohatta Palace is our heritage. Please ask Imran Khan to turn Bani Gala, one of the biggest encroachments into a university. Better yet. Go after one of Malik Riaz's. Or if you have the guts, go after Army's, Emaar's, Dolmen or bharia's illegally occupied DHA and Clifton sea front land. Which is under public but is being privatised and gentrified. Hands off Mohatta Palace !

Apart from a rich cultural museum , the Mohatta Palace is also a heritage architectural monument of pre partition. It has to be preserved with all its beauty in the facade as well its rich tile work flooring and painted ceilings. It is a place which is a source of pride for us and will be for future generations. Do not take that away, for the future will hold us accountable.

The judgement is myopic not understanding the role that art and culture plays in nation building. It shows the inadequacy in our understanding of the importance of these elements.
