Laura Merryman has been an integral part of life, learning, and community at the King George CGS site. She fosters an open, engaging, and challenging classroom in which each student is expected to do their best each and every class. At the same time, Mrs. Merryman creates an environment of love, respect, and acceptance between all students and herself. Students are never afraid to voice new ideas, have discussions, or reach to the highest levels of their educational abilities. Mrs. Merryman also knows each of her students individually and frequently offers outstanding guidance to students in matters academic, career-based, and personal. Seeing this kind of turnout reminds me why I started this fight in the first place even when the days feel long. I am drained but the momentum behind Laura keeps me pushing forward because she is worth every bit of this struggle. Thank you for staying in this with me.

Mrs. Merryman is the heart of the King George CGS community; without her, I'm afraid that the tight family bonds we have all made will loosen.
The school board is making a huge mistake here. Laura is the only teacher who actually got me to care about my grades.
I really dont get why they want to get rid of her. She helped me so much with my college apps and just general stuff. Keep her at King George!
I'm not entirely sure what Mrs. Merryman has done to be penalized in the first place. I've never seen her do anything wrong or inappropriate. She works very hard to make her curriculum interesting. If that means having the class meditate on and study some of the gorier themes of a story like blood and guns (or whatever has gotten her in trouble), I feel as though it should be excused. If delving into curriculum for what it is or could possibly be isn't "normal" or if it's "inappropriate", I feel as though the words should be redefined. Either way, I joined CGS because I didn't want to be taught "normally".
