Please remove this and other anti-gun bills as they negatively impact the lives of law abiding citizens and do nothing to make Marylanders safer.

I understand that replica firearms are seen as a threat, however why make it completely illegal? Why not use the orange tip rule. But then who's to say you can't paint a real gun orange? There is no ideal compromise as it is not the replica that needs to be changed but the people with I'll intentions. Everything becomes a weapon in the hands of the wrong person.

This bill is a petty and vague attempt to fix current problems on the streets. One of the many reasons Airsoft exists is to promote structure, discipline and respect for other individuals and their communities. The solution is obvious and it's to support local Airsoft teams to the point where the sport is recognized and regulated nationwide. Thus being no need to outlaw an entire growing culture of people and the vast industry they represent.

This is the second time within a few weeks that the sport of airsoft has faced legislation that would in effect criminalize the sport. A sport which is a refuge for many military veterans, law enforcement officers and countless other players worldwide, some who play to counter the effects of PTSD and depression. It's a vital part of life to those who have been introduced to it. Being an enthusiast has changed my life in many ways for the better. I often discuss life outside the sport with fellow airsofters across the country, have traveled often to attend events, and spent several thousand dollars (quite a personal investment) on gear and equipment, much of which benifits local businesses. And I am but one of many players in my area. We play with and against each other in pickup games and milsim events. We host youtube channels. We keep in contact and introduce others as well. We are a community.

This bill is a silly. Banning an object(a pretend gun) in reaction to someone making a bad personal choice(pointing a pretend gun at a police officer) is never going help.

Air soft is a passion and a great time with friends and family. Taking this away from the people would also take away jobs and money from the Maryland economy
