Only stupid people with no firearm safety headline the news and make the 99% of good people look bad. I thought Maryland was liberal and wanted to provide jobs, not kill them...

Why would anyone want to take away something that helps keep people from committing crimes and buying drugs? They would be to busy buying parts and and other airsoft/paintball guns to afford drugs and to busy playing with these to get mixed in committing crimes. Dumb choice to try and ban this if you ask me.

As a mother of two teenagers, that love air soft, I can say that: Air soft is a sport that is played in a very safe and controlled environment. It teaches kids discipline and sportsmanship. It forms friendships and is a lot of fun.

How can an imitation firearm be considered as such and then be banned if it can't win the War on Terror, or any war or conflict for that matter? What kind of guns do the terrorists use? They use real ones. What kind of firearm does the United States fighting soldier use to fight these terrorists? What kind of rifle did our Forefathers use to defend this country from an oppressive government? Not airsoft. This bill is an attempt at demonizing one's ability to defend one's self and their loved ones from the harm of evil individuals. Whoever thought of this bill should be ashamed of themselves as it will NOT be them guarding my home from an immediate intruder. Not even the police have to react to that. Only we who live in our homes. Yes, this bill is a cheap shot at all civilian owned firearms.

Airsoft builds a community of sportsmanship and camaraderie like no other. Plus, allowing civilians to mix with veterans and connect in a harmless way brings only good to the table. It's all about the learning experience, and the good fun!

I VOTE and have a long memory.
This bill affects more the just airsoft
cosplay (remember there are two large conventions in Baltimore) , reenactor's and the dad that has a red rider bb gun in the closet.
This would turn LAW abiding CITIZEN'S in to CRIMINALS over night with a larger penalty the having a controlled DRUG. Under Maryland law it is already a crime to brandish a toy firearm or any lookalike weapon. If used in a crime it is considered a real firearm. So to sum up the only thing that this bill would add is that it could turn many citizens in to CRIMINALS OVERNIGHT

As a member of the US armed forces (let me be clear, this is MY opinion, not that of any branch of the US military) I do not believe it to be a good nor beneficial idea to ban replica firearms. This will lead to the destruction of competitive organized sports such as paintball as well as airsoft, and put an end to thriving local markets that cater to these sports' communities. The time and money put into such legislation would be much better spent on public education on such matters as safe and appropriate use and display of replica firearms and potential consequences of improper display and use thereof.

airsoft is sport, not just for us kids and teens but for all as a past time to do what we like to best. Take this away, you take away the very thing people love to do.

I dont understand the foundation for this law. You already have to be 18 to purchase a airsoft gun so why would it be OK to purchase a shotgun but not a airsoft gun? If they are worried about it looking too real why is that a problem? Would they rather people commit robbery with a real gun? And if they get shot I have new for you. If you play stupid games you win stupid prizes. I talked with a police officer buddy of mine and ask him about the orange tip on toy gun if they are trained to look for that. He said yes. And then I asked him what if I painted a gun orange? He said well you would get the first shot and smirked at me. This legislation has no grounds and should not be passed.

Dear Maryland State legislature. I am a 19 year old middle class marylanderwho enjoys playing airsoft and paintball recreationally. I am begging you please do not punish the law abiding citizens who do NOT commit crimes with their airskft equipment. for me, as it isI am extremely overweight, the military isnt an option right now. airsoft gives me a way to both lose weitht and get the adrenaline rush you cant get from a video game. This Isn't our fault. think of the businesses you'd be closing down. the taxes you collect from those businesses as well would be gone if you made our SPORT illegal. So please even if just for the sake of your pocketbook I implore you do NOT pass this legislation

If you knew the actual facts you would know that not a single fatality or person committing crimes with airsoft guns were actual airsofters. They were underage , unsupervised kids. Yet this bill will affect us and our sport as if we are the cause. This bill will destroy valuable tax income to the state and destroy jobs and business. It will solve nothing and the problem will continue.
