Whats the point of this, stupid idea. There are enough places for pedestrians in Maidtone that do not have the restaurants and pubs.. Why...

Stop taking the fun out of every thing! As a council you should be wanting to help promote local talent as much as possible!! You stop these music venues the pubs will lose business and will close down so earl street will become another half used street in this town! Come on office bods sort it out!!!!

Its sad that councils goverments what ever seem to be destroying our way of life by introducing plans , laws and the like, we must stand up to these people that are so narrow minded who think they are spending tax payers money wisely and benifit the community. Long Live Rock n Roll i say . Good Luck

Ridiculous idea! it's hard enough to load and unload at these venues with the ever present threat of the traffic wardens, couple that with the occasional jobsworth copper that moves you on because you're "causing an obstruction on a busy road (what?), by parking on a double yellow line". I've even been given a ticket for loading in one of the loading bays because I wasn't in a commercial vehicle! Even though my car is used primarily for my work as a musician! This is yet another ridiculous idea from the council, there are much better ways this money could be spent... sorting out the potholes on the towns roads would be quite nice, or better still, give the money to the low income families who would make good use of a few extra pounds a month!

Surely Earl street can be pedestrianised but still allow for business vehicles when necessary!!? Or how will deliveries be made to all businesses In Earl street??

I had a reply to my email to the councillors involved, and all they said was that they were planning a consultation with the businesses that would be affected. We need to keep on top of this and present them with the signatures collected on here. Keep sharing and spreading the word music lovers!!

The general feeling is the further messing around of the Maidstone centre will push people away, I simply cannot see the reasons to cause more hardship on the business' of that street.
