A true landmark area for live music, a Mecca for performers, and a huge revenue stream for Maidstone. This cannot be allowed to pass.

There are already a limited number of venues for live music in Maidstone, and the majority of them are situated in Earl Street. Not only is this proposal appalling as far as the businesses and live performers are concerned, as a disabled person, I find this further limitation to my right to have access to my local area and the services and entertainment it provides utterly despicable.

This is ridiculous. The live music scene is on the up in Maidstone particularly in Earl Street and this will just kill it dead. how do the council think the musicians will be able to get their equipment to gig venues? if they have to close it to traffic there should be an exception for unloading in the evenings

Live music is a good night out. Always with a good mixed socialable crowd. Need to be encouraged to bring people tinto the town.This really has not been thought through

Utter madness. I've seen this done in other towns and it simply knocks the stuffing out of them. Far from attracting a 'smart set' it'll just die on its feet through the lack of diverting entertainment and choice. After that it'll become a wasteland for feckless youth. As for alfresco eating... I should remind you that this is England.
