How fortunate Houston has been to have Lisa Gray's insights into our remarkable city. How short-sighted of the Chronicle to eliminate her column. It speaks poorly of the new management.

I know that all daily newspapers are feeling stress these days, but I think it's important to keep our outlook local and informed. Lisa Gray's column dips into the issues that concern us, and familiarizes us with details and issues of the neighborhoods. From her, I learned about the gray herons that appear after nightfall on our streets, and heard what individual neighborhoods are doing about walkability and livability. Plus, we've all met many interesting characters from her columns. In a city in which many people live in car "bubbles," it's important for us to touch down with a sensitive column about our city and its byways. Thanks for your work, Chronicle!
