Houston is interested in business. However, the arts and architecture are a major contributors to our quality of life. There are many who value these as much or more than sports. Without the aesthetic environment, we are at a disadvantage to other major metropolitan areas.

Lisa Gray contributes greatly to the design community, by helping us all "see" this interesting city we live in!

Columns such as this one is parallel to fine arts; the masses may not read it but it offers interesting and important for those who seek the column everyday.

When such thoughtful and thought provoking writers are rewarded by having their columns cancelled, one must ask what is the real motivation behind such a decision. It clearly is not an effort to improve the quality of journalism at the Chronicle. Has someone ruffled the wrong feathers? Good journalism inevitably generates argument and often disagreement. That is why a free press is crucial for a functioning democracy. Uninformed masses trudge blithely along without challenging the status quo. It is not only a shame when high quality journalism is ignored, or in this case, silenced. It is, in fact, an abuse of power with consequences teaching far beyond the immediate impact on the journalist. It is a blow to the integrity and empowerment of the entire community.

The cancellation of Lisa's column is another step in the long decline of the Chron toward irrelevancy.

Lisa Gray's articles are the most consistently informative and thought provoking of any articles that I have read in the Chronicle in the past 30 years. Quality of life effects all Houstonians and Lisa's column highlighted quality of life concerns for us all.

If you want to fix what's wrong with the Chronicle, look first at your abysmal distribution system. A 13 year old boy on a bike would do a better job. And reinstate Lisa Gray's column. Until then, I am not a subscriber.
