This is a national issue which will be of direct concern to the people of LeedsCity Council when DEFRA "rolls out" its culling policy in 2014.
The object of the petition is to ensure that Leeds City Council's badger population is as safe as possible from slaughter and that the already available injectable badger vaccine against bTB is used in as many cases as possible.
We ask this because we believe the culling policy is inhumane (DEFRA's measurement of "humaneness" is to time the screams of wounded badgers), inefficient (previous culls showed an increase in bTB because of badger movement) and unscientific (the majority of scientific opinion hold that a cull will have "no meaningful result").
To preserve the integrity of this petition please only sign it if you live, work or study in the Leeds City Council area.

Leeds Council have a responsibility to not allow the city's badgers to be slaughtered. The trial cull has proven ineffective and vaccination must be endorsed.
I don't want any of my money used to slaughter badgers when they can perfectly well be vaccinated.
Please don't llow this cull to come up to Yorkshire, vaccinate, the Badgers suit the method, ask why do we vaccinate people, pets? to control diseases. there is a badger vaccine & it is being done elsewhere. Please
Culling is simply killing healthy badgers for nothing better than a passing whim. You could kill every badger in UK and it would not make any impact on TB. The cattle industry needs to put house in order not use badgers as smokescreen for poor bio security.
Scientific evidence is against this inhumane destruction of an iconic British mammal. It's a futile gesture to NFU. Our badgers aren't political pawns
Please protect wildlife, don't destroy badgers!

Leeds is a brilliant city, full of life and vibrancy so why would us leeds residents want this barbaric practice happening in our city? It's unethical, immoral and damn right avoidable! Vaccinate don't exterminate, why should any more suffer? The cull failed, we all knew it would, now is the time to use modern effective methods, don't let Leeds enter the dark ages!
