You can't cut the dofe it gives so many people, young people, something to strive towards. A goal. It provides many new skills and attitudes and they learn so so much from it.

Why would you want to take this away from kids. There is hardly anything fun forvthem to do anymore. Removing the doea would be a huge mistake.

The DofE programme with Kirklees has definitely been worthwhile for me and many others and should still be a good opportunity for others with Kirklees to do their DofE in the future.

Another example of how social mobility is moving backwards, ie pupils at 'better' schools still have access to DofE through their own schemes.

Why do they want to cut a wonderful service like this. There is little enough in Kirklees for the youth of today and to cut yet another service is just diabolical.

The work carried out by the DofE staff and volunteers to the young people of Kirklees is an essential part of giving the young people a sense of achievement, self confidence and self worth that supports schooling and parenting and in some cases a place to go to, to talk over their worries and concerns with DofE staff, in the knowledge that they can be trusted to advise and assist as a friend who will not judge them.
This organisation in Kirklees is respected and admired throughout the UK in their achievements with young people.
Kirklees DofE is an essential part of Council support to younger members of the metropolitan area and must not be allowed to be cut back in training and achieving future leaders of this part of West Yorkshire

AMAZE is a provision for young people who have disabilities. this is an invaluable service, challenging, enabling and accepting young people.

This place has done and still continues to do amazing things for young, inspiring optimistic people. To even put such a place at risk is a disgrace, the service the DoE provides should never have to be put in any kind of uncertainty. I hope it will be recognised for it's worth.

This would be a travesty. The scheme provides a great opportunity to young people to develop skills and values to help them as they go through life in helping themselves and others. Kirklees Council should be ashamed they are even considering this.

I completed my bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh with Kirklees Council who offered new and exciting opportunities for me such as woodturning. These new experiences have definitely helped me get to University and secure volunteering and work opportunities. The DofE Award should definitely not be cut here as thousands of young people benefit from the scheme.
