I have been with the DofE award since I was 14 and it has made me who I am today. The award has been a great help towards building my confidence, supporting others around me and becoming an independent young woman. I am now on a HE course which allows me to go into jobs to help those in need and it would be a shame to shut this charity down. It has been going for years and has allowed people to achieve skills they never could.

This is an extremely valuable resource for all young people in the Kirklees area. For my son, who has autism, it is a vital part of his socialisation into the wider community and without it there would be a huge void in his life. Some young people rely on organisations such as D of E as they are not able to access other organisations would could provide a social setting. Don't let your budget rule your decisions. Think of the wider picture and the whole role the D of E group plays in the community.

Learning and development in all forms if vital. It is a backward step for society when we even consider taking away learning opportunities to save money. D of E give so much insight and experience it should be saved

Both my children have gone through D of E at school and he gas been a valuable life experience for both of them. Colleges & employers look for attricute that the D of E process instills in them. It would create a terrible diservice to future participants

Don't stop this service, it's vital for young people to have these opportunities and improve their skills and boost their confidence. My daughter has recently started the bronze award and is enjoying the voluntary work. I'd like her younger brother to have the same opportunity. Thank you

Kirklees needs to continue providing the DofE service for young people of the future as it helps build them into independent caring and resourceful leaders of the future. Our children both attended and achieved Gold levels. Such a pity if others don't have the same opportunities in the future.

Not everyone is lucky enough to complete D of E through schools and colleges.
Also it was amazing see what young people with a disability had accomplished through the WACKY programme

The DoE is an exceptional programme and so beneficial to those fortunate to partake in it. Credit must go to Kirklees Council for their important role in this and it MUST continue. I am sure that within the context of the council's overall budget we are talking about relatively small savings here!

The DofE is of great value to many children. It enables them to challenge themselves as well as giving back to their community. Opportunities to do these things are already in short supply.
