My daughter has just completed her bronze award and found it invaluable for her development, confidence and team building and bonding, cutting it would be such a sad loss to other children suffering in these areas of development

I believe this is very valuable in a child's education and learning. Both my children have completed this and loved it

This is one cut to far. This service is invaluable to young adults and life skill building.

This is another injustice that Kirklees are proposing to do.

The D of E gave my daughter the opportunity to achieve goals we never imagined. She met new friends and many fantastic people. This scheme must be maintained.

Hi This is a valuable service. Organisation, communication, teamwork, leadership, confidence, reliability skills are gained to help a young person into employment or on to other opportunities. Cutting this will be a big mistake.

As a Councillor and a parent, I am completely disgusted that the council are even considering cutting this service. My son is Autistic and this is the only activity service that will willingly take him. Many children who wont achieve academically can excel in these activities. Therefore from a future employment perspective this qualification is more valuable to them, than any exam qualifications. The life experiences children gain from participating in DofE, sets them up for the future. By removing this opportunity you are further disadvantaging already disadvantaged children. Even for 'normal' children, they would be disadvantaged compared to neighbouring communities. This i find wholly unacceptable. I would strongly urge the council to reconsider.

D of E is a superbly positive experience for our young people. There are fewer and fewer opportunities that are not 'virtual' in there make up. Please do not take this truly character building experience away from our kids.

This is a great programme and needs to be continually invested in. I fully support this petition.

I've done DofE Bronze, Silver and am currently doing Gold, it's a great experience and shouldn't be taken away from the people who want to take part in it.
