Save Kirklees DofE

What are these young people going to do without the DofE so many volunteers help them with life skills. Are we just going to throw them out on the streets so they can start to learn unhealthy life skills. Come on Kirklees put my council tax to work with these wonderful young people. Pay MP's less to keep this service going

My daughter is a Gold D of E awardee, while being a part of the scheme she achieved much and made life long friends.

Cut mp wages before this. Robbing those more vulnerable, disgusting.

Essential that the work of this fabulous organisation continues in Kirklees to ensure our young people get the chance to grow and develop into responsible, resiliant human beings. How can you honestly allow this programme not to be funded. It is essential.

I Am a good Duke of Edingbourgh Award Holder and also I was a young volunteer for considerable amount of time. I believe that the award is a fantastic opportunity for young people to socialise make friends work as a team gain valuable work life skills and generally to develope as a person. The award offers so many opportunities to young people to try out that it would be an absolute shame to see it close. I really hope that we are able to keep this worthwhile scheme running in years to come and to further develop and give even more oppotunities.

Do we really want these disadvantaged young people to be left with little support which keeps them occupied and out of trouble. The support workers really care about them and are good role models for them?

This is where investment of money is needed.What society gets out in terms of 'interest repaid' is mature young adults learning life skills, problem solving, being outside of your comfort zone. This is exactly where I want to see my council tax going.

It would be a travesty to cut this lifeline to young people, we will all regret its loss if it's closed. Not just because it provides a constructive outlet for the youngsters but also because society as a whole will lose another bit of quality

This would be devastating for our young people with special needs. Wacky is our saviour in school holidays what will our young people have if they take this away. Shame on you kirklees for even thinking about it.

Kirklees will rue the day they take this project from young vunrable adults,disability young people, and all the support that comes with it !

This would be a short term cost saving with a much higher cost long term. The council is supposed to be using an Early Intervention and Prevention model. That's exactly what this would cut. Young people need this Especially the ones who find academic life a challenge and who need another way to 'shine' and find what their skills are. What a bland, mono council they are creating. Just budget cuts Where's the innovation and clever thinking ?

Young people in Kirklees need activities and achievements to work towards such as the DoE and WACKY. If the Council take these opportunities away what else is there for YP? Save the DoE and WACKY!!!

Young people need more things like DofE not less. The hard work and dedication the volunteers put in is amazing and young people take so much away from their experiences.

I have volunteered for the DifE in Kirklees for a good number of years now. The staff are so committed and enthusiastic and work so hard to support both young people and leaders alike. They get amazing results too. There shoukd be more investment in this really excellent project

Please Kirklees don't shut the centres down because I have not completed my silver and gold experditions yet, it is a lovely project for people to do, it gives people opportunities to learn things and people won't be happy if Kirklees do shut the centres down
