Completing my gold D of E helped me to get the apprenticeship I wanted at Ernst Young as it gave me a strong talking point in my interviews and differentiated me from other applicants. Even being with the firm over a year, it is still one of the things that managers and clients still find impressive when they ask me about my experience.

Please do not make cuts to this previous and well needed activity for special needs it would affect so many disabled children and adults . This is all they have. If anything cut the wages and bonuses if overpaid underworked Kirklees funding panels and politicians

It's a poor system that allows the council to find £1.2m of DoT money to waste on the absurd bus "gates" in town, but not to fund this - probably the single most constructive and socially valuable youth programme in the country. According to the "Kirklees Short Breaks Statement 2013-14", "The value of a DofE Award to a young person cannot be underestimated". Someone else at the council clearly thinks it can...

Cutting youth provision is a massive retrograde step. Programmes such as DofE equip thousands of young people in Kirklees with the life skills they need for the future.

DofE makes a huge contribution to developing mature, responsible young people who are able to work as a team & organise things. The young people also contribute a lot to the community during the volunteering sections of the awards

D. of E. will go on but it would become the privilege of the better off youngsters supported by better off parents in the way that the Kirklees Music Service has already. This is not what the staff and volunteers want nor, surely, what the Council want.

In the grand scheme of things the budget associated with this programme is relatively small and so provides good VFM

My children access this great service, and I've supported disabled young people for years who have loved it!!

It's a disgrace that this is being cut as it is of such benefit to young people. It will have a particularly negative effect on those with additional who need more support to access this award.

Hopefully not another educational centre full of fun for those who aren't able to express themselves in mainstream won't be closing. Shame on the council.
