D of E is life changing for all those who take part but they need that extra support this service provides. Both my daughters are proud Bronze Award achievers and now well qualified and highly paid.

I achieved my Gold DofE in 1979 through Almondbury School. It gave me so many life skills. Young people need activities like DofE award scheme to build up confidence and gain life skills to become independent and contributing adults. All my children have taken part in the DofE and I was able to be at my daughter's gold award ceremony 36 years after mine.

My son has done his bronze and silver award which he both enjoyed and is proud of his achievements. He is wanting to do his gold too. Council cannot make cuts on side as it is important for the youth of today

It's a disgrace that Kirklees are not going to fund projects which help kids in their own area progress with specific skills for the future
