Ivan was the best part of living at 92 Morningside Ave. I moved to NYC alone as a young female student and Ivan went out of his way to make sure I felt safe and was taken care of. Even after moving out of state, Ivan held packages that were wrongly sent to my former address and sent them to me on his own time. Whenever I am asked about my experience living in NYC, I don't talk about the food, or even attending Columbia - I say I had the best super around.
If I were still a resident, I would choose not to renew my lease and request to live in whichever building that was lucky enough to have Ivan next. The termination of such an excellent employee is absolutely ludicrous to me.

I feel very strongly about this situation. Ivan has shown up, done the work, and taken care of residents. He should not be wrongfully terminated. This deserves to be addressed and corrected.

It’s super important to us that Ivan is living here. He responds and solves whatever issue we may have in the apartment (and trust me, there are a many issues) and saves us precious time and money. He’s always been very kind and attentive.

Ivan is an amazing super and even better person. Not only is he extremely responsive and diligent with respect to his duties, but he also fosters a sense of safety and community that is absolutely invaluable to each of the tenants. He is tremendously hard-working and has made countless sacrifices in his service to the building. Ivan is unequivocally irreplaceable.

I am an attorney and prospective tenant and I have talked to multiple current tenants in the building as part of my due diligence. I am a single woman and one of the main reasons I was leaning towards the building is the wonderful comments people have made about the super. They have told me he lives on site, is very friendly, extremely reliable, and is always willing to go above and beyond to help the tenants. I also have a dog and knowing there is someone in the building who can occasionally help is a major selling point. I am not comfortable inviting anyone into my apartment but since everyone with whom I have spoken loves Ivan and he has been in the building for 10 years, I am much more comfortable. I have also heard from tenants that they were not told this was going to happen - why wouldn't you discuss this with them? I do not want to get into a situation where building management makes unilateral decisions affecting all tenants without informing them - that is not a place I want to call my home. Of course, I am not a tenant yet but this is not the type of culture where I want to live. I will be watching how this plays out and I really hope you reconsider, or at least give the tenants more information.

Ivan went above and far beyond for us as new tenants with a newborn. From letting us in when locked out to being there within 2 minutes when we had a ceiling leak, we are so grateful!

Yes!! This is just one example of how Ivan has saved management money! Another example is how he is always available to show prospective tenants the building. Many of us would have not rented here if Ivan hadn’t shown us the apartment on day one. He is your realtor, property manager, and your security guard. His constant presence is invaluable. Mark my words, in 18 months, you will have a half vacant building that is falling apart and has terrible security. Nobody wants that. Please don’t ruin this building’s community.

Ivan has been essential in our decision to stay in this building. He has provided fast and efficient service with any issues we’ve had with our unit, works diligently to keep the building clean and sorted and more than anything is kind, friendly and a valued member of this community. I cannot imagine life here without him. If anything, Ivan deserves to be valued and supported much more from management. He works without the ability to take time off, he works when he’s sick, and he does it all by himself. Shame on management for taking such drastic measures without the feedback from the tenants. I am seriously considering leaving when our lease is up. Make amends, pay him, and give him some vacation.

Ivan is the most wonderful superintendent. He is responsive any time of day or night for any tenant needs. He keeps the building clean and most importantly a safe have for our families including our pets.

Ivan is truly irreplaceable. He works long hours and even gives his personal time whenever it is needed from him. He is more than a super of this building he is apart of its community and he gives his all to this. The last 10 years he has supported and taken care of all the needs in the building and its tenants including their kids and pets and has done it from the kindness of his heart. This decision should be reconsidered and reversed because a loss like this will affect the decision of many tenants going forward. It’s sad to see such a drastic decision being made by selfish individuals without the consideration of the actual live-in tenants and even the community around.

Ivan’s dedicated service and unquestionable care for both tenants and guests are what have kept 92 Morningside at a consistently high standard and in excellent condition. His unprovoked dismissal is deeply concerning and reflects poorly on the judgment of the property management responsible for this decision. We strongly urge management to reconsider letting go of a superintendent who has clearly demonstrated reliability and respect for the building and its residents.

We don't think management understands the scope of Ivan's role and responsibilities and all that he does for the building and its tenants. Management needs to improve its communication with tenants and show up in the building. They should be asking US for our feedback and working to address any potential issues collaboratively and with transparency. If anything, Ivan does way too much and needs more support.
