Should be known as a heritage site already because it was the first ever fast food drive-in restaurant in South East Asia!...and probably the last one standing. How many fast food outlet or restaurant you know that has been in operation for almost or more than 50 years here in Klang Valley? We can only think of two from the top of our heads, Coliseum Cafe and this A&W. Bottom line, not many.

I have been spending my afternoons sitting in the parking lot watching families make the same memories I made there as a child. It is heartbreaking to think this space could disappear while so many of us still rely on it for a sense of home. Please keep posting your favorite stories because they prove to the owners that this corner of our city is worth fighting for.

Seeing the flood of memories you keep posting about this place has been truly overwhelming for me. It is clear that this spot is more than just a restaurant because it holds a piece of our shared history. Your passion keeps me going through this fight to protect our heritage.

My parents brought me here since I was a little kid. Would be a real shame to see it go.
PLEASE DONT CLOSE IT. The root beer float is the best in town hands down.

Dear KUB, As a fan of this iconic A&W location, I think it is very shortsighted to sacrifice this heritage landmark in the name of so-called "progress" and "profits." I believe the recent spate of customers queuing up to show their support indicates the huge opportunity to capitalize on from the nostalgia this A&W evokes in many people. Perhaps a suggestion would be to renovate the premises to update its look and launch a cost-effective social media advertising campaign to ask people about their favourite memories of the place and to use those to highlight the many wonderful and unique features that we have come to love about this location, from the amazing kids' playground, to the great party room and staff (including the people who play the A&W bear!), to the beloved waffles and dessert section, and of course the drive-in, which I believe is one of the few of its kind left standing in this day and age probably anywhere in the world. While A&W is perhaps not as indicative of Malaysian culture as, say, wayang kulit or wau bulan, or even mee goreng, as a nation we can surely benefit and draw together from our shared experiences, and for so many PJ-ians and KL-ites, this A&W is part of those shared experiences. I myself had my 7th birthday here, like so many kids, and I loved it. Still remember my doll coconut cake (with the cake forming the doll's skirt) and kissing the A&W bear.
