Crouch End is a thriving community - let the community have this gem at its heart

I think it is essential to save the Town Hall for community use and keep a tight rein on how the car park is developed. Every little bit of space in London is important to keep for community use. There is so little space now. There are so few places the Community can call our own and go and sit or join in. Everything is a commercial or retail experience from which the owners want to charge money. I saw in a plan that even the space around the library fountain will go. This is just greed with no thought of the Community. The library will be swamped by tiny flats where the flat dwellers have minimal space for a creative life. We have strong ideas for our beautiful buildings in Crouch end. No to selling the car park and Town Hall to the highest bidders (who are slaves to their shareholders). We don't want to have huge impersonal blocks of flats built right up to the pavement edge.

This amazing building right in the heart of Crouch End is too precious to be sold off.

I have been a Crouch End resident for 11 years. It's only been the last several months I have been able to access the building for the various events taking place there. It is a stunning building, with incredible potential that, until now, has been untapped. I work in the Arts sector and can see unrivalled potential in the area. No other building in the Borough can offer such space, and endless possibilities. There is so much history and heritage within the building and the I love having an Arts Centre in the local area providing such a diverse range of acitivities, many of which that are community based.

Please do consider what the local people want. This is an irreversible decision.

I very much am against Haringey council selling off Hornsey Town Hall for private development. It is a fantastic local asset as it is!

Please keep Hornsey Town Hall as a community space and don't sell it for a knock-down price!

The town hall belongs to Crouch End and the people of the surrounding area. It needs to be used for the public not commercial.

I do not want to see yet more faceless, soulless global corporates in the Town Hall. Well done the society for having the energy and will to start this campaign. I am behind it.

Please ensure the space is used publicly and not limited to commercial uses.

Given that the Town Hall has been unused, underused and left in disrepair for decades, it is unreasonable to now attempt to rush through a sale when there is real opportunity for a community solution.

This is a critical opportunity to hold onto a community resource which like so many other true community resources will disappear forever if so for developers. Like our green spaces, Community resources must be protected for future generations.

Our Town Hall needs life and to be used by the community. Not left to rot for decades. Or worse still be sold to developers. Let the community manage t for our benefit

Having the Town Hall as a community arts centre has been welcome and I would much prefer that it is maintained in some way for local people to use as a community asset

The town hall stands at the centre of Crouch End, and should be its cultural heart - as it was before the council closed it down and let it rot.

Hornsey Town Hall is a beautiful and historic building at the centre of our growing community in Crouch End. As a community asset it has unique potential to provide a cultural and civic focus for our community in a way no other space can. To sell it off to private developers would be to jeopardise that potential and substantially reduce Crouch Enders' ability to enrich their own lives and those of neighbouring communities. Haringey Council needs to understand this and, as an absolute minimum, abide by the spirit of law concerning the Community Right to Bid.

We need a community asset for artists! Renting space is becoming more and more unaffordable in North London. Councils have given up buildings to churches. Why are artists not being supported?

Hornsey Town Hall is at the heart of Crouch End. This historic building should be retained as a community asset and not lost to private developers. The Council should take the long view; the proceeds of any private sale will eventually evaporate, and then we will be left with nothing.
